About The Wheel Throwing Experience
Most beginners worry about the clay wobbling, but our sessions are designed to be messy and stress-free. We guide you through the real process of centering the clay and pulling up the walls on the wheel—ensuring you walk away with a piece you actually made with your own hands, not just one you watched us demonstrate.
At Pastel Mystery, we believe pottery is simply 'clay therapy' that happens to produce cool ceramics. We ditch the long lectures and get you hands-on with the wheel from the moment you sit down. Our rooftop studio in Malad provides the setting, but the focus is entirely on your experience of shaping a lump of earth into a bowl or vase.
What to expect in your session
Each workshop lasts about 1.5 to 2 hours. We keep our batches small—between 6 to 10 people—so you get actual guidance instead of waiting in line. We provide all the aprons, clay, and tools. You don't need to bring a thing, just your curiosity.
The process
- Centering: The hardest part, and we help you master it.
- Pulling: Learning how to give your vessel height and form.
- Shaping: Whether you want a wide bowl or a tall vase, you make the call.
The Takeaway
You have options when the session ends. You can choose to take your piece home raw to display as a souvenir of the day, or you can leave it with us for kiln firing and glazing if you want it to be food-safe (it takes 2-3 weeks for us to process). Either way, you get that 'Wait, I made that?!' feeling, which is the whole point of joining us.
