Pottery Workshops for Beginners in Mumbai
Come by my studio in Kalyan to get your hands dirty, learn the basics of clay, and walk away with a ceramic piece you created yourself.
It was wonderful to have these two sisters in the studio to celebrate a birthday. They decided to make plates inspired by their favorite memories, and it was such a creative and heartwarming way to mark the special day. There's nothing better than making something with your own hands.
What a wonderful and fulfilling workshop with this enthusiastic group! It’s amazing to see everyone’s creativity come to life, especially for those touching clay for the first time. The studio was filled with so much positive energy and beautiful, unique creations.
It’s always a joy to see students discover the magic of clay. I love watching the excitement on their faces as their very first piece takes shape, formed entirely by their own hands. These moments fill my studio and my heart with so much light.
Just another beautiful day in the studio with my brilliant students completely engrossed in their work. Some are learning the focus of the pottery wheel, while others are rolling out slabs for hand-building projects. The shared creative energy is what makes this space so special.
A snapshot from a busy workshop session. My table is full of students, each focused on their own project, learning to work with clay. I love the atmosphere of shared creativity and the fun of interacting with new people in every session.
This couple did such a fantastic job during their workshop, creating intricately carved plates. It's always heartwarming to see people working together and encouraging each other's creativity. They left with beautiful pieces and, I hope, a wonderful memory.
The best part of teaching is seeing the proud smiles when students collect their finished pieces after firing. These two created beautiful blue floral vases, and the vibrant color that emerged from the kiln was a wonderful surprise for them.
I am so proud of my student Sukanya for pushing her boundaries with this large fish mural. It's a challenging piece, but she took it on with so much passion. I can't wait to see this beautiful ceramic wall art hanging on her wall.
My dear friend Neha is my newest student, and we are having so much fun together in the studio. Here she is, focused on creating a beautiful planter. Sharing my love for pottery with friends is truly a special experience.
My student Sukanya, a journalist by profession, is seen here carefully carving a fish platter. Our sessions are filled with interesting conversations about everything from music and pets to politics, all while creating with clay.
About Pottery Workshops for Everyone
Since I personally fire all the pieces in my kiln, you get to take home a finished stoneware creation. You will shape, carve, and paint your work during the session, and after a few weeks of drying and firing, you will have a durable, hand-made bowl or mug ready to use at home.
Whether you are looking to try something new, planning a unique date, or wanting to pick up a long-term hobby, my studio is designed to be a relaxed escape from the city. I focus on hand-building techniques like pinching, coiling, and slab work, which are perfect for beginners. These methods are tactile and forgiving, allowing you to focus on the process rather than perfecting the technique on a wheel.
What to Expect
My sessions are not formal classrooms. Think of them more as a creative hangout. We will have music, tea, and plenty of conversation while we work. The environment is intimate, with small batch sizes of 4 to 6 people to ensure I can give everyone the attention they need.
Workshop Options
- Single Session: A 2.5-hour workshop perfect for creating your first bowl or mug.
- Clay Date: A private, 2-hour session for couples, ideal for celebrating a special occasion with a shared creative activity.
- Comprehensive Course: A 6-session module if you want to dig deeper into clay science, glazing basics, and advanced hand-building.
The Process
After your session, your work needs time to dry and undergo the firing process in my kiln. This includes trimming, glazing, and double firing, so it typically takes 3 to 4 weeks for your pieces to be ready for pickup. It is a slow, patient process, but the results are worth the wait.

I do not just teach pottery, I share my studio sanctuary with you. It is a space where I slow down, and I would love for you to come by, have some chai, and see what you can create with a little clay and patience.
