We keep the ancient art of Kusti alive here in Jayanagar. Learn the raw strength, leverage, and grappling techniques that form the foundation of a true fighter.

We honor the roots of combat with traditional Kusti, or Indian wrestling. Here, two of my students are engaged in a match, showcasing the raw strength and technique that forms the foundation of grappling.

As a coach, I guide my wrestlers through every moment of the Dangal (wrestling competition). Here I am instructing a student on strategy from the edge of the akhada.

A tense moment during a Kusti bout. I stay close to the action, observing technique and providing real-time feedback to my wrestlers.

The match continues under my watchful eye. Kusti is a chess match of strength and leverage, where every grip and movement matters.

The winners of the Kusti competition, honored with garlands and trophies. This sport celebrates both victory and the spirit of respectful competition.

Congratulations to my student Prem on his victory. Holding that trophy is a reward for the intense physical and mental preparation that goes into every Kusti competition.

With a fellow coach at a local Kusti competition. We are a community dedicated to preserving and promoting this powerful traditional martial art.

About this collection

Kusti training at our club is not just about the match, it is about building foundational strength and tactical intelligence. We drill the specific grip-fighting, stance, and takedown entries until they become muscle memory. Whether you are looking to improve your grappling for MMA or want to master the traditional art of the Dangal, we prioritize the mechanics of leverage over brute force.

Kusti is the oldest form of grappling, and it remains the most effective way to build a fighter's base. At Panthers Combat Club, we bridge the gap between ancient Indian tradition and modern combat requirements. We do not just teach you how to wrestle; we teach you how to control your opponent's center of gravity.

Why Kusti Matters for Your Combat Game

Most MMA fighters struggle when the fight hits the ground because they lack the specific grips and takedown defense learned in traditional wrestling. By studying Kusti, you develop a level of balance and grip strength that is hard to replicate with modern weight training. Our curriculum includes:

  • Grip & Leverage: Learning how to control an opponent through wrist, collar, and belt grips, a skill that translates directly to Judo and BJJ.
  • Conditioning: We use the Gada (mace) and traditional calisthenics to build functional power that lasts through multiple rounds, not just a quick burst of energy.
  • Takedowns: You will learn to execute explosive single and double-leg takedowns while maintaining your own balance, a crucial asset for any combat sport.

Training at our Jayanagar Facility

We maintain a high-discipline environment. You will train on specialized puzzle mats that provide the necessary friction for grappling, combined with the hard-nosed coaching style I have developed over 22 years. We treat the mat like an akhada. Every session involves live sparring where you apply what you have learned against resisting opponents. This is not for the faint of heart, but for anyone willing to put in the work to become a champion.

I have spent 22 years building fighters, and Kusti remains the absolute foundation of my combat philosophy. I teach this not as a history lesson, but as a living, breathing way to build a champion's mind and body. Step into my gym, and let's get to work.
