My Yoga Journey & Philosophy
Yoga is a path of constant uncovering. Here, I share the philosophy and the moments behind my retreats, where we move from the gross to the subtle to find the home within ourselves.
Self-preservation is a quiet form of self-love. Here, I'm taking a moment for myself in nature, remembering that it's okay to protect my energy and come back home to myself.
A reminder that our energy is precious. We don't have to be available all the time or share all versions of ourselves. Some parts are just for us.
Contemplating the discomfort that can arise in our own company. Instead of reaching for a distraction, can we sit with it? This is where the real self-enquiry begins.
We hold the energy of the source within us. There is no better fuel than to return to that source, to come back home to you.
In conversation during a cacao ceremony. Sharing and listening in a safe space is a powerful form of healing and connection.
Capturing some in-between moments during our Sthiram 2.0 retreat. I love finding the beauty in the small, unplanned parts of our day.
A quiet moment of reflection on the balcony of our yoga shala, overlooking the mountains. These pauses are essential for integration.
Looking out at the vastness of the hills, feeling a sense of peace and gratitude for being in such a beautiful place.
A happy, candid moment peeking out from the yoga shala. The joy of sharing this practice is what fuels me.
Behind the scenes of a yoga shoot in Ladakh. Even when we are filming, the practice remains a meditation, a connection to the breath and the stunning landscape.
About My Journey & Philosophy
My retreats are not about physical mastery, but about creating an accessible space for self-enquiry. Whether we are in the high altitudes of Ladakh or a tropical villa in Lombok, I use props like wall ropes and blocks to ensure that anyone—regardless of their flexibility level—can safely explore alignment and restorative practices without pressure.
I moved from a decade in media to this path of yoga, and it has been a journey of craving less and finding more. My teaching style blends the structure of Hatha and Iyengar principles with the necessary softness of Yin and Restorative yoga. This balance is intentional. It allows us to move the body, then hold space for the nervous system to settle.
The Practice of Self-Enquiry
When you join me for a retreat, you are not just attending a class; you are participating in a guided process of returning to your natural state. We start with active flows to build strength, but our evenings are reserved for Yoga Nidra, sound healing, and open discussions. This is where the real work happens—in the silence between the postures.
Nature as a Teacher
I choose our locations, such as the quiet corners of Kumaon or the coast of Sri Lanka, specifically for their ability to ground us. Nature is my co-teacher. When we are surrounded by the mountains or the rhythm of the ocean, it becomes easier to detach from the noise of our daily lives and observe our own patterns.
Who This Is For
You do not need to be a 'yoga person' to join these gatherings. We have students who have never stepped on a mat, alongside those looking to deepen their existing alignment practice. The only requirement is a willingness to be present. If you are curious about my upcoming retreats or want to understand how I incorporate props to aid your practice, feel free to reach out directly.
