Our Studio Philosophy and Design Portfolio
A look into the heart of Mistry Architects, where architecture meets community, sustainability, and the stories we build together.
This magazine feature captures our ethos, detailing projects like the post-earthquake rebuilding in Nepal and the water-sensitive design for BIEC. The group photograph shows our ever-smiling and enthusiastic team, the heart of Mistry Architects.
We've compiled our recent works into a portfolio of beautifully designed booklets. Each color represents a different category of our practice, including socially relevant projects, homes, institutions, conservation, and interiors.
Our complete portfolio, with booklets organized in custom-designed holders. This collection is a tangible representation of our diverse architectural services, from green architecture to detailed interior design.
Another view of our portfolio collection, showcasing the care we put into presenting our work. It stands as a testament to our team's collaborative efforts and our commitment to creating meaningful architecture across various scales.
About Our Story & Portfolio
When we design, we do not start with blueprints; we start by listening. Whether we are master-planning a sustainable home in Bengaluru or rebuilding schools in Nepal, our process is anchored in participatory design where we sit with you to weave your specific story into the structure. This ensures that every project—be it a private interior or a large-scale institution—feels less like a construction site and more like a natural, living extension of the people who inhabit the space.
Architecture is, for us, a form of conversation. We believe that a building should do more than simply stand; it should breathe, adapt, and foster deep connections with the surrounding landscape. Our studio is built on the principles of slowness, diversity, and play, allowing us to approach projects with a perspective that values the land as much as the occupants.
Our portfolio spans a wide range of domains, but our core philosophy remains constant:
- Sustainability: We treat ecological sensitivity as a non-negotiable. From rainwater harvesting and passive cooling to reusing materials like shipping containers, our goal is to leave a light footprint.
- Vernacular Roots: We lean into traditional wisdom, utilizing exposed brick, oxide flooring, and handmade details that celebrate local craft.
- Participatory Approach: Every space we create—from prayer wheels for children to community hubs—grows from the needs and stories of the people who will actually live, work, and learn in them.
We don't just deliver drawings. We guide you through the journey of realizing a space that feels honest. Sometimes the process is slow or messy, and that is exactly how we keep it real. We invite you to explore our work across homes, hospitality, conservation, and education, and see how we blend the old with the new to create spaces that heal, empower, and inspire.
