About Behind the Clay: Our Studio & Process
When you create a piece here, it does not just leave the wheel and disappear. Every item goes through a careful cycle: precise trimming, slow drying, the crucial first bisque firing, glazing, and a final, high-temperature glaze firing. This process takes 3-4 weeks because we believe in making sure your masterpiece is durable, food-safe, and truly ready for you to take home.
A Space for Everyone
Whether you are visiting us in Indiranagar or at our studio in Jeevan Bima Nagar, the vibe remains the same: a no-judgment, welcoming space to get messy and find your calm. We believe the studio is more than just a room with wheels—it is where we build a community. You will often find people from all walks of life, like our resident artists or students exploring new techniques, working side-by-side.
The Journey of Your Clay
Ever wonder what happens after you finish your session? Clay is a patient material, and we honor that. Once your piece is shaped, it enters the “greenware” stage, where it slowly dries. We then trim and clean the bases before loading it into the kiln for the first bisque firing. This hardens the clay, making it ready to absorb glaze.
After that, we hand-dip your pieces in glazes, firing them a second time at high temperatures. This is where the chemistry happens—the heat transforms the glaze into the smooth, waterproof, and food-safe finish you see on your favorite mugs. It is a 3–4 week journey, but it is how we ensure your memory becomes a lasting piece of art.
Meet the Hands Behind the Art
We are proud to be a space that nurtures talent. From our youngest students to professional artists experimenting with complex techniques like Nerikomi or Sgraffito, everyone here adds to the energy of the studio. Come by, grab an apron, and find your own flow in the clay. 🫶
