About The Vocal Circle: Group Singing
Unlike traditional choirs that prioritize reading sheet music, The Vocal Circle is built on ear training and collective intuition. Whether we are tackling a Vulfpeck cover or a classical Raag Bahar, the goal is not technical perfection but learning how to blend your voice with the people standing next to you.
We designed this ensemble for the joy of shared music. You do not need a music degree or a history of solo performances to stand with us. Our Tuesday sessions are purposefully kept informal to lower the barrier to entry, welcoming beginners and experienced vocalists alike.
When you walk into our South Extension II studio, you will find a space designed for acoustics, not performance pressure. The format is consistent but the repertoire is always changing. We guide you through pop, rock, folk, and classical arrangements, focusing on harmonies that make a room vibrate. You will learn to find your part in a chord, maintain rhythm without a metronome, and listen—really listen—to the group.
We believe that the best music happens when you stop thinking about the notes and start befriending the sound. That is why we do not hold auditions. If you can hold a melody, you have a place here. It is an hour each week to switch off from the city's chaos and tap into a communal, meditative, and ultimately, a very human experience.
