About Kathak & Classical Indian Dance
We keep our batch sizes limited to ensure you receive individual correction, whether you are perfecting your hastaks or working on complex footwork. You learn directly from Smriti Shome, a senior disciple of the Lucknow Gharana, who brings years of performance experience from stages like the Shriram Centre to our studio floor.
Whether you are looking to master the basics of Teen Taal or deepen your connection with classical aesthetics, our approach is rooted in the Lucknow Gharana tradition. We start with the foundation, focusing on proper posture, hastaks, and precise footwork, before moving into the expressive storytelling of semi-classical choreographies.
Our studio in South Extension II is equipped with sprung wooden flooring, specifically chosen to reduce impact on your joints during rigorous footwork practice. Because our sessions are capped at a small number of participants, you receive real time correction rather than just following along in a crowded hall. If you have been curious about dance but felt intimidated by large, fast-paced classes, our environment is built to be a safe, quiet space where you can make mistakes and find your own flow.
