Featured Highlights: Competitive BJJ and MMA Training
Get a closer look at our training philosophy, competition achievements, and the daily grind inside the Sai MMA Academy mats.
I believe in teaching techniques that work under pressure. Here’s a breakdown of the Matador sweep, a move we drill for competition. My classes focus on clear, step-by-step instructions so you can add effective moves to your BJJ game.
This is what dedication looks like. Each medal represents countless hours of training, sacrifice, and the will to test my skills against the best. When you train with me, you learn from an active and proven competitor.
Our kids' BJJ program is about more than just martial arts; it's about building confidence, discipline, and having fun. Here I am with the group after a successful summer camp at Sai MMA Academy.
This is the intensity of No-Gi grappling. In this black and white shot, you can see the focus required during a live roll, working to pass the guard. It's a physical and mental chess match every time.
Don't just take my word for it. Listen to Viru, one of my students, share his experience training at Sai MMA Academy. He talks about the variety of classes we offer, from kickboxing to grappling, and the great value you get.
Here’s a look at the Bow and Arrow choke, a powerful submission from the back. The video breaks down the technique in the gym and then shows it being successfully applied in a real competition. This is how we bridge the gap between practice and performance.
You're not just joining a gym, you're joining a team. This is part of our crew at Sai MMA Academy, a diverse group of men and women all dedicated to improving their Jiu-Jitsu together.
A proud moment in my journey: receiving my Blue Belt from my coach. BJJ is a long road and every step is earned, not given. I'm still learning and grinding every day, just like my students.
About Featured
We do not believe in shortcuts or gimmicks. Our training setup in Hosa Road is a no-frills, garage-style environment with 1-inch EVA foam mats designed for high-intensity work, not comfort. When you step on these mats, you are not here to hide; you are here to learn real submissions, pass guards, and test your skills through live, high-resistance sparring.
The Training Approach
At Sai MMA Academy, we treat martial arts as a discipline, not a hobby. My method is straightforward: if you want to be better, you have to show up, put in the reps, and accept that failure is part of the process. Whether we are drilling takedowns or working on positional control, the goal is always to build muscle memory that holds up when things get physical.
Competition Proven
I don't just teach; I compete. My own journey—from engineering to Blue Belt—is built on testing techniques like the Matador sweep and Bow and Arrow choke in the fire of national-level tournaments. When you train with me, you are learning strategies that are actively used in competition, including tournament-specific point systems, stalling tactics, and game plans for matches.
Your Place on the Mat
We run a serious, supportive environment. Classes are broken down into Gi and No-Gi sessions, with a strong focus on conditioning. You will sweat, you will get pushed, and you will work with partners who are as serious about their growth as you are. We offer morning and evening slots at both our Hosa Road and HSR Layout locations to fit your schedule. If you are ready to stop talking about it and actually start the work, show up and get on the mat. Avvalothan.
Jagapathi Babu
I'm Babu. I left the engineering world because I believe the shortcut is a lie, and there is no substitute for the work you put in on the mats. If you are looking to earn your stripes in BJJ or build real combat skills, I am here to help you get there properly.
