Our Featured Learning Approach
Learning shouldn't be about memorizing facts. At Hattennoki, we use games, tactile tools, and stories to help children genuinely understand math and reading. Here is a look at how we turn learning into a joyful, practical experience.
Welcome to Yonjuu, my strategic card game designed to make math intuitive and fun. Here's a little glimpse of how my son Kai and I play. I created this game because I believe learning should be a joyful, shared experience, and it’s been wonderful to see families and classrooms embrace it to build number sense and logical thinking together.
This is my happy place, a classroom buzzing with curiosity and engagement. I believe in creating a dynamic, interactive space where children feel empowered to ask questions, explore ideas, and participate fully. Seeing hands shoot up like this is a reminder that when we make learning active, children are naturally eager to join in.
I am so grateful for the trust parents place in me. This note beautifully captures the goal of my work: to not only build math skills but to ignite a genuine love for learning. It’s about helping a child see their own potential and approach challenges with newfound confidence.
Multiplication doesn't have to be about rote memorization. With my Yonjuu cards, we make it visual and tangible. This short video shows how we can transform an abstract concept like "4 times 3" into a concrete, hands-on activity, helping children truly see and understand the "why" behind the math.
I created this guide to help parents and teachers understand the simple, powerful ways children learn best. It’s a look inside a child’s brain, showing that movement, play, and feeling safe are just as important as focusing. My teaching is built on this holistic approach to support a child's entire well-being.
This moment captures the essence of my workshops. It's all about hands-on exploration and discovery. I use tools like these colorful blocks to help children build, create, and understand complex ideas like symmetry and patterns in a way that feels like play.
It's an honor to be invited to share my work with fellow educators. Presenting at conferences like this allows me to connect with teachers and librarians who are passionate about creating meaningful learning experiences. I believe that by empowering educators, we can transform learning for countless children.
About this collection
You will often see me using my Yonjuu cards in my sessions. These are not just for fun; they are visual, hands-on tools that turn abstract numbers into something a child can actually hold and manipulate. Whether we are tackling multiplication or just building number sense, I use these to help kids stop guessing and start seeing the logic behind the math.
Most students I work with come to me because they have stopped enjoying school. They are not struggling because they lack ability; they are struggling because the traditional 'sit and listen' approach does not match the way they naturally learn. Whether it is my Math from Scratch program or my literacy initiatives, I start by meeting the child exactly where they are.
In my Bangalore sessions—whether in Jayanagar, Indiranagar, or online—I integrate social-emotional learning into every hour. If a child feels anxious about math, no amount of rote practice will help. First, we have to lower the pressure. We use Lego bricks, sand trays, and pattern blocks to make concepts touchable. By the time we transition to paper and pencil, they already understand the 'why' behind the problem.
I do not believe in labeling children. I believe in giving them the right tools. If you are a parent looking for support, know that my approach involves you, too. I provide guidance on how to make learning joyful at home, so you do not feel like you are constantly fighting to get homework done. We keep things simple, practical, and effective.
Hattennoki
I am Jaspreet, the founder of Hattennoki. I started this because I wanted to build a bridge for children who find school subjects overwhelming, using my experience as a teacher and my own journey as a mom. I believe we can make learning feel like play, not a chore.
