Building Confident Readers Through Multi-Sensory Methods
I help children move past reading anxiety by using research-backed, hands-on strategies that make literacy feel like discovery rather than a chore.
My L2R R2L (Learn to Read, Read to Learn) program is designed to transform language instruction. This video highlights some key takeaways from a workshop with educators, where we explored how to use interdisciplinary learning and the Science of Reading to deepen reading comprehension.
Reading is a journey that begins with a single book. This video shows glimpses of my reading programs in action, from a child exploring a picture book to an online session. My goal is to foster a lifelong love of reading by building strong foundational skills.
My reading programs are all about making literacy hands-on and sensory. This video shows an activity where we match objects to their beginning letter sounds, a key part of building phonemic awareness. It’s a playful way to work on a fundamental reading skill.
Action rhymes are a powerful tool for early childhood development. I created this rhyme to teach opposites, which is crucial for both literacy and numeracy. It combines movement, rhythm, and vocabulary to make learning dynamic and memorable.
This note from a parent is why I do what I do. It describes how her son, who was struggling and upset with reading, is now able to read passages and feels happy and interested. Guiding families on this journey to literacy is an incredible privilege.
About this collection
I do not use standard worksheets. In my sessions, we use sensory tools like sand or rice trays to physically trace letter sounds, helping your child’s brain connect tactile movement to literacy. By making phonemic awareness hands-on, we dismantle the anxiety that often leads kids to say they hate reading, giving them the confidence to finally move from decoding simple words to true comprehension.
Reading should not be a battle that ends in tears. If your child freezes when they see a page of text, it is usually not because they lack ability. It is often because the method of instruction is not connecting with how their brain naturally processes language. My approach at Hattennoki is rooted in the Science of Reading (SoR), focusing on evidence-based strategies to build fluency, vocabulary, and deep understanding without the pressure of rote memorization.
Whether we are working in one-on-one diagnostic sessions or small group enrichment, the goal is always to build confidence. We move away from the frustration of drilling and toward active learning. We use action rhymes to teach rhythm and opposites, interactive storytelling, and multi-sensory games that allow children to touch and play with the concepts they are learning.
For students who feel stuck, we start exactly where they are, not where a syllabus says they should be. I build a safe space where we can tackle reading barriers together. Parents often tell me that this shift—from rigid instruction to play-based discovery—is exactly what helped their child finally feel happy about picking up a book. Whether you are in Bangalore or joining online from across India, my programs are designed to help your child develop the foundational skills they need to become a reader for life.
Hattennoki
I am Jaspreet, a former high school teacher who turned to creating learning tools after seeing too many students lose their spark to rigid methods. My goal at Hattennoki is to create a safe, joyful environment where your child can stop worrying about performance and start actually understanding how to read.
