Math shouldn't be about memorizing facts from a textbook, but about holding ideas in your hands. My Yonjuu cards turn arithmetic, strategy, and logical reasoning into a game you’ll actually want to play.

Welcome to Yonjuu, a fast, fun, strategy card game that brings numbers alive. This video explains the basic rules of Level 1, where the goal is to strategically combine cards to reach the target number of 40. It’s a perfect introduction to the game's core mechanics of number sense and strategic thinking.

Multiplication doesn't have to be about rote memorization. With my Yonjuu cards, we make it visual and tangible. This short video shows how we can transform an abstract concept like "4 times 3" into a concrete, hands-on activity, helping children truly see and understand the "why" behind the math.

My Yonjuu cards are a versatile tool for teaching fundamental operations. In this clip, I demonstrate how to use the cards to visually explain addition and subtraction, helping learners grasp concepts like making ten and finding the difference between numbers in a concrete way.

Happy Pi Day! Math is full of beautiful patterns, even in the most complex numbers. I created this fun mnemonic using my Yonjuu cards to help students remember the first 15 digits of Pi. It’s a great example of how we can use creative tools to make learning memorable.

Ready for the next level? This video introduces the trump cards in Yonjuu, which add a new layer of strategy by turning cards into negative values. It’s a fantastic way to introduce the concept of integers and negative numbers in a dynamic, game-based context.

Building number partners is a foundational math skill. Here, a young learner uses the Yonjuu cards to practice making pairs that add up to five. This simple exercise strengthens number sense and prepares children for more complex addition and subtraction.

Welcome to Yonjuu, my strategic card game designed to make math intuitive and fun. Here's a little glimpse of how my son Kai and I play. I created this game because I believe learning should be a joyful, shared experience, and it’s been wonderful to see families and classrooms embrace it to build number sense and logical thinking together.

About this collection

Most math tools provide just another set of problems, but Yonjuu changes the physical relationship between numbers. Because the cards use ten-frames and color-coding, you aren't just looking at the symbol '8'—you are physically manipulating an eight-value quantity. It moves the brain from rote counting to 'math agility' by making abstract operations like multiplication and negative integers tangible enough to touch.

I designed Yonjuu because I saw too many students freeze up when faced with a page of numbers. By turning foundational concepts into a strategy game, we remove the math anxiety that builds when learning is purely abstract.

In our classes and workshops, we use these cards across different levels:

  • Beginners use the cards to identify patterns, such as finding pairs that add to 10. This builds immediate number sense and mental math fluency.
  • Advanced learners introduce trump cards, which instantly change the game's logic. This is where we introduce negative numbers and integers, allowing students to 'see' how subtraction works visually rather than memorizing a rule.

Whether you are a parent working with a child struggling to memorize multiplication tables, or an educator wanting to liven up a math club, this tool bridges the gap between concrete objects and abstract symbols. It is about understanding the 'why' behind the math, not just arriving at the right answer.

I’m Jaspreet, and I created Hattennoki because I wanted learning to feel good, not scary. Whether you are a parent trying to make math less intimidating at home or a teacher looking to bring life to your classroom, these cards are my way of sharing the strategies that worked for my own son, Kai.
