About Kyokushin Karate Training
Why Kyokushin at HPKA?
Kyokushin isn't just about fighting for me - it's a lifestyle. I want to see students become strong in body and mind, not just medal collectors. Around here, courage and respect matter as much as technique.
Who’s Welcome
Anyone, really. We have kids from age 5, grown-ups who haven’t stretched in years, and experienced fighters chasing something more. If you’ve got willpower, you’ll fit right in.
How We Train
Training is tough, sometimes even brutal, but never boring. We do big group classes for that charged-up vibe, plus I give one-on-one corrections when needed. Rain or shine, indoor or open ground - we train. We do full-contact karate training, so expect sweat and a few bruises. Sparring (kumite) and kata are regulars. Many students compete at state and national levels - medals aren’t rare here.
Progression & Events
You start with a white belt, and if you stick with it, you could end up with a black belt. Belt grading exams are part of our routine, and watching students level up is my highlight. We have intense camps, sometimes outstation, and our own HPKA Championship for students to show off their skills.
Kyokushin Family
Over 250 students train here - we call it the kyokushinfamily. We push each other, help each other, and celebrate together. Win or lose, you’re always learning.

Hard Punch Karate Academy
My Story
Osu! I’m Sensei Ananda Kannan, 3rd Dan Black Belt and founder of Hard Punch Karate Academy. Kyokushin is my life, my dream, my daily bread. Started HPKA just to spread this madness, and now, from one small class, we’re a big Kyokushin family across Bengaluru. My students – from tiny tots to seniors – they inspire me every day. Watching them kick, fall, get up, win medals, or just show up, that’s my real trophy.
My Work
