KNM is a legacy of 40 years, started by my mother before I was born. This video tells the story of our journey, bringing the tradition of Jaipur Gharana to Mumbai in a contemporary way while keeping the legacy intact.

My mother, my guru, has always been a pioneer. This video shows her seamlessly adapting to technology for her classes, a process she started decades ago, all without ever compromising on the pure content of the art she passes on.

My mother is a living embodiment of "age is just a number." At over 60, her sadhana of 40+ years glows brighter with every performance, proving that devotion and hard work are the true secrets to success.

The subtle beauty of a Thumri, executed with poise and control. This is a glimpse of a class with my Guru, Smt. Radhika Sathe, where she teaches the fine art of abhinaya.

When in front of Guruji, time stills and only the divine flows. This video captures a moment from a workshop with him, where we are all lucky spectators trying to assimilate the divinity that flows from him.

A heartfelt birthday wish for my Aai (mother). Here she is addressing the audience, a picture that captures her grace and warmth as both an artist and a teacher.

My mother on stage, in her element. Her performance is a masterclass in the grace and power of the Jaipur Gharana, a constant source of inspiration for me and my students.

A candid moment between my mother and another esteemed artist backstage. These are the moments of camaraderie and shared respect that enrich our artistic community.

My mother at her daily prayers. Her devotion to the art is deeply intertwined with her spiritual practice, a value she has instilled in me and in our school, Kathak Nritya Mandir.

A close-up of my mother's expressive hands and face during a performance. Every mudra and glance tells a story, a testament to her decades of mastery in abhinaya.

About Our Lineage: The Guru-Shishya Parampara

When you step into our classroom, you are not just learning choreography, you are inheriting a practice. We do not just teach steps. We focus on the transmission of padhant (vocal recitation) and bhaav (expression) exactly as it has been refined over four decades. My students learn by observing the fine adjustments in my mother's hands and eyes, a subtlety that no video tutorial can capture. If you are serious about understanding why we hold a specific mudra a certain way, you will find those answers here, in the direct guidance of a lineage that treats dance as a form of devotion.
