Music has no boundaries. I love blending the precision of my Farukhabad Gharana roots with modern grooves like rap, electronic, and global percussion to create something fresh.

A fun and experimental tabla cover of a Punjabi rap song by Diljit Dosanjh. This split-screen video shows how I can adapt my playing to match the groove and flow of modern hip-hop and pop music.

A dynamic fusion of tabla and drums, covering a solo by the phenomenal Eric Moore. This is a great example of how I approach rhythmic dialogues between Indian and Western percussion instruments for world music projects.

On stage with rapper Armaan Khan bhai during an inter-school fest. This live collaboration shows a fun fusion of tabla beats and rap, demonstrating my versatility in different musical settings.

About Fusion & Experimental Rhythms

When we collaborate, I don't just lay down a track and walk away. I look for the heartbeat of your specific composition—whether it is a rap verse, a film score, or a fusion piece. We start by discussing the vibe, and I adjust my tuning, improvisations, and Laggis to fit the frequency of your production, rather than forcing a standard rhythm into a space where it doesn't belong.

My approach to fusion begins with deep respect for the instrument. Growing up in the Farukhabad Gharana tradition taught me that the tabla is not just a drum, but a voice. In experimental settings, that voice needs to be adaptable. Whether you need the heavy bass of a bayan for a hip-hop beat or the sharp, articulate highs of a dayan for an ambient soundscape, I work to find that balance.

How We Can Work Together

I am comfortable working in high-pressure studio environments. If we are recording for a film background score in Kolkata, I can do frame-by-frame sync work and read Western notation. If you are an indie artist working on a single, I am happy to jam and experiment until we find the sound that sits right in the mix.

  • Remote & In-Studio: Based in Kolkata, I am available for sessions at Studio Vibrations or any studio of your choice. I also regularly handle remote recording projects for clients across India.
  • Technical Flexibility: I bring multiple sets of tabla to every session to accommodate major scale shifts (like C# to E), ensuring the instrument is always tuned perfectly to your track.
  • Collaborative Spirit: I have had the pleasure of playing alongside incredible instrumentalists and vocalists. That experience of listening and reacting in real-time is what I bring to your project.

Music doesn't have rules, only possibilities. If you have an idea, let's explore it.

I believe rhythm should speak the language of the song, whether it is a traditional composition or a modern rap beat. My roots are in the Farukhabad Gharana, but my ears are always open to fresh sounds and new collaborations. Let's create a rhythm that feels exactly right for your project.
