I bring the soul of the tabla to the songs you love. From Bollywood hits to global tracks, see how traditional beats add a new, rhythmic layer to modern music.

A tabla cover of the beautiful Bollywood song "Tere Naina". The gentle rhythm of the tabla adds a classic touch to this soulful melody.

Exploring different genres, here is a tabla rendition of the song "Who" by Jimin of BTS. It shows how the percussive nature of tabla can complement K-Pop as well.

This is how the hit Punjabi song "Players" by Badshah and Karan Aujla sounds on tabla. The driving beat of the song translates into an energetic and fast paced tabla rhythm.

A tabla cover of the soulful Punjabi song "Mai te Mahi". The rhythm here follows the song's emotional arc, building and softening with the vocals.

My tabla interpretation of the iconic song "Teri Deewani". The tabla part aims to capture the raw passion and spiritual fervor of the original track.

A moody and atmospheric tabla cover of the song "Aapse Bhi Khubsurat". The vintage filter on the video matches the nostalgic feel of the music.

A tabla cover of the song "Muskurahat" from the movie Gangubai Kathiawadi. The rhythm is kept light and hopeful to match the feeling of the song.

About this collection

When I create these fusion covers, it is not just about layering rhythm over a track. I look for the specific theka that sits perfectly with the song's energy, whether it is a fast Punjabi pop track or a slow Bollywood melody. You will notice that for songs like "Players," the tabla focus is on drive and speed, whereas for something like "Teri Deewani," I shift to a softer, more atmospheric touch to match the vocals.

People often think tabla is only for classical or devotional music, but that is just one side of the coin. My approach to fusion is simple: the tabla should enhance the song, not overpower it. Whether we are jamming on a modern Bollywood hit or experimenting with a K-pop track, the goal is to find that sweet spot where the traditional bols (strokes) merge with modern digital sounds.

When you listen to my covers of songs like "Mai te Mahi" or "Muskurahat," you hear how the tabla reacts to the emotional arc of the track. If the song is hopeful, the rhythm stays light. If the mood is nostalgic, I use techniques that evoke that feeling. This is what I love doing for collaborations and studio projects.

How I approach a fusion project:

  • Rhythmic Adaptation: I analyze the original beat and find the closest taal or variation that complements the existing melody.
  • Genre Flexibility: I have worked with everything from fast-paced Punjabi pop to soulful K-pop tracks. The instrument is incredibly adaptable if you know how to tune it for the right scale.
  • Sound Quality: For studio work, we look at mic placement and frequency to ensure the tabla is crisp and blends perfectly with other instruments without muddying the mix.

If you have a song in mind that you think needs that organic percussive touch, let me know. We can start by jamming on a few ideas until we find the rhythm that makes the track feel complete.
