Our Martial Arts Lineage & Traditional Roots
Martial arts is about the roots. These photos show the Gurukkals who hold the knowledge I pass on to my students. This is where real discipline starts.
A meeting of masters and students in Koottayi, Kerala. It is an honor to sit with the Gurukkals who hold the knowledge of generations. This is the root of our Kalaripayattu training.
With my brothers in the art, Rafi Gurukkal and Mujeeb Gurukkal, in my home state of Kerala. We are all part of a long line of Indian martial artists.
Sharing knowledge and respect with fellow masters. These connections to the source of the art in Kerala are what keep our training authentic and true.
About Our Lineage & Community
You see these photos of me with my Gurukkals in Koottayi? That is where the training begins. Real Kalaripayattu and Silambam are not learned from videos. We practice here under the direct guidance of Rafi Gurukkal, someone who understands the weight of these traditions and passes that authenticity to every student.
When you join BFC, you aren't just signing up for a fitness class. You are stepping into a lineage that goes back generations in Kerala. We do not believe in quick-fix workouts or flashy, useless moves.
My own journey as a fighter started with these teachings. My masters in Kerala taught me that if you want to perform in the octagon, you must first master the basics of body control and discipline. This is why we have Rafi Gurukkal teaching the pure Kalaripayattu forms at our Bangalore gym.
People often ask why we emphasize traditional forms alongside modern MMA. It is simple. The footwork, the flexibility, and the weapon control from Silambam and Kalaripayattu provide a foundation that standard gyms cannot teach. It makes you a more complete fighter.
In this community, we share more than just sweat. We share a duty to keep these arts alive. If you are looking to learn with respect for the origin of the fight, you are in the right place.
