Traditional Indian Martial Arts Training
We blend the discipline of Shotokan Karate with the fluid, ancient power of Kalaripayattu and Silambam stick fighting to build real mental and physical strength.
A demonstration of nunchaku technique. This weapon, though famous in Okinawan arts, requires discipline that is universal to all martial traditions I teach.
Practicing Silambam, the ancient Tamil martial art of staff fighting. This training develops timing, distance management, and fluid body mechanics.
A Kalaripayattu performance for a live audience. This ancient martial art from Kerala is known for its graceful yet deadly movements, and we are proud to keep the tradition alive.
A close-up look at my nunchaku practice. Control, precision, and speed are the cornerstones of mastering any martial arts weapon.
About this collection
You don't just learn forms here. Whether it's the precise footwork of Kalaripayattu or the speed of Silambam, we ensure every technique serves a purpose. We move from basic stances to actual application, meaning you’ll learn how to use these ancient skills for modern self-defense, not just for show.
Why Traditional Martial Arts?
Many gyms offer generic cardio, but traditional arts like Kalaripayattu and Silambam provide something deeper. Kalaripayattu develops flexibility and joint strength through its unique animal-inspired postures, while Silambam teaches you distance management and hand-eye coordination through rigorous staff fighting drills.
What You Can Expect
When you join us at my BTM Layout center, you aren't just memorizing choreography. We focus on:
- Weapon Control: Learning the precision required for Nunchaku and Silambam sticks.
- Flow and Mobility: Using Kalari movements to improve agility that translates to any other sport or daily activity.
- Practical Defense: We teach you to avoid conflict, but if trouble finds you, you’ll have the technique to hold your ground.
Who Is This For?
These sessions are open to everyone. If you’re a beginner, we start with your basics to ensure your foundation is solid. If you have prior experience, we challenge your speed, accuracy, and form. My goal is simple: I want you to walk out of the dojo feeling more capable than when you walked in. You provide the effort, and I provide the path.
