About Cage Control: Wall Wrestling Essentials

Cage wrestling is brutal because the wall takes away your space to move. We do not teach you to just hug your opponent against the cage; we teach you how to dictate the clinch, create tension, and transition into takedowns while the other person burns energy trying to escape. You will feel the difference in your conditioning the first time you drill these sequences against the wall.

In the cage, the wall is a tool for control. Many beginners think of the cage as a place to rest, but at Crosstrain, we treat it as a technical battlefield. When you pin an opponent, you aren't just holding them; you are manipulating their posture, using underhooks, and controlling their head to leave them with no options.

The Technical Breakdown

Our cage control sessions focus on three specific pillars:

  • Positioning: Understanding how to use the wall to stack an opponent or create space for strikes.
  • Pressure: Developing the 'heavy' feel that forces opponents to panic and give up their back.
  • Escapes: Learning how to survive when you are the one with your back to the wall.
