Wrestling is the backbone of MMA. We teach you how to take the fight to the floor, control your opponent, and dictate exactly where the action happens.

Wrestling is about imposing your will. Here, students drill takedowns and control positions, learning the fundamentals of grappling on the feet.

"King of the Hill" is one of our favorite drills for building relentless takedown defense and the endurance to stay on your feet in a fight.

In our "King of the Hill" drill, one person has to defend takedowns from a line of fresh opponents. It's a killer workout that forges mental and physical toughness.

A fighter uses the cage wall to his advantage, clinching with his opponent. We teach wrestling specifically for MMA, including how to use the environment in a fight.

Two members of our competition team wrestle for position against the cage. This is a critical skill in MMA, and our pro fighters drill it constantly.

One of our top prospects, Rahul Thapa, drills wrestling against the wall. This kind of specific training is what prepares our fighters for their professional bouts.

Two students engage in a wrestling exchange, fighting for the takedown. This is where you build the strength and instinct to control the fight from the start.

About Wrestling & Takedowns

You won't find generic fitness drills here. Our wrestling sessions focus heavily on cage control and takedown defense, giving you the practical tools to handle yourself in a real fight. It is physically demanding, but it is the fastest way to understand how a physical confrontation actually works, whether you are here for self-defense or to compete.

The Foundation of the Fight

Wrestling is arguably the most essential skill in MMA. It dictates the pace and position of the match. At Warrior's Cove, we teach you to be the one in control, whether that means taking the fight to the ground or keeping it on your feet against an opponent.

Our Training Approach

We don't believe in theory without application. Our curriculum focuses on:

  • Takedown Mechanics: Learning how to close the distance and execute takedowns with leverage rather than brute force.
  • Takedown Defense: Reacting instinctively so you stay on your feet when you want to.
  • Cage Control: Using the environment to pin an opponent or escape a bad position. This is specific to the cage environment you see in professional bouts.

The 'King of the Hill' Drill

You will often see us running our signature 'King of the Hill' drill. One student defends against a line of fresh opponents, forcing them to learn how to manage fatigue while under pressure. It is not just a workout; it is a mental test. It teaches you how to keep your composure, maintain your technique, and protect your back when your lungs are burning.

Who This Is For

Whether you are a complete beginner who has never wrestled a day in your life or an amateur fighter looking to fill the gaps in your game, our sessions are designed to break you down and build you back up. You will learn to use your hips, your balance, and your knowledge of leverage to neutralize opponents who might be bigger or stronger. If you are ready to get comfortable being uncomfortable, you belong on our mats.
