About Grappling & Ground Work

You don't just scramble when you hit the mat. In my classes, we drill specific wrestling takedowns and clinch control so you know exactly how to dictate the pace of the fight. It is about technique over power, keeping your cool when you are on the ground, and using the right leverage to flip the position in your favor rather than just relying on muscle.

Whether you are training for MMA competition or self-defense, ground work is unavoidable. You can have the best striking in the world, but if someone takes you down and you cannot get back up, the fight is over. My sessions focus on the reality of the mat. We work on closing the distance, securing the clinch, and executing clean takedowns that dump your opponent without wasting energy. We do not just train for offense. We spend hours on defensive drills—guard retention, escaping side control, and surviving from the bottom. It is about having a plan when you are on your back. My students in Tagore Garden drill these scenarios until they are muscle memory. No fancy movies, no fake choreography. Just raw wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu basics, and the conditioning to keep moving when you are tired. If you are serious about fighting or just want to level up your strength and awareness, you need to understand the ground.
