This workout, "Rope & Iron," is a perfect example of functional fitness. It combines the grip and upper body strength of rope climbs with the power of cleans.
For me, training is a duty, my Svadharma. Every drop of sweat is a sacrifice that feeds my purpose. This is the mindset I bring to every workout.
Taking up CrossFit as a sport is not a kid's play. This AMRAP workout is designed to push your cardiovascular and muscular endurance to the limit.
A typical week for me is about being a hybrid athlete. It includes lifting, conditioning, and even playing sports like cricket. This is what functional fitness is all about.
To build true stability, you sometimes need to train in an unstable environment. This exercise challenges your core and stabilizer muscles in a unique way.
Here’s an accessory exercise I use in my off-season to build chest strength. The plate pinch press creates maximum contraction and is a great alternative to standard presses.
This is one of the most brutal workouts I've ever done, combining an AMRAP with an EMOM. It’s designed to test every aspect of your fitness.

About Functional Fitness in Action
Functional fitness isn't just about how you look; it’s about how you move in the real world. Here, we don't use flashy machines that isolate single muscles. Instead, we use your bodyweight, barbells, and sleds to replicate real-life demands like carrying, lifting, and pushing. Whether you are prepping for a Hyrox race or just want to feel capable in your daily life, my programming focuses on technique first. We build your foundation with PVC pipes and empty bars before we ever add significant weight.
Training for Real Life
Many gyms focus on mirror muscles, but here at Adapt Fitness Club, we focus on movement patterns. Squats, deadlifts, presses, and carries are the bread and butter of our programming. These aren't just exercises; they are skills that improve your posture, reduce injury risk, and boost your daily energy.
The AFC Difference
Our 4,500 sq. ft. facility in Sector 106, Gurugram, is a raw, industrial environment. We don't have central AC, and we don't have rows of treadmills to zone out on. What we do have is a community that values hard work. We use Concept 2 rowers, assault bikes, climbing ropes, and heavy rigs. Every workout, or 'WOD' (Workout of the Day), is varied so your body never plateaus.
Why Technique Matters
People often avoid Olympic lifting or CrossFit because they are afraid of injury. That is why I spend time at the start of every class drilling form. You won't find us rushing through reps just to post a fast time on the whiteboard. If you are a beginner, we start with the absolute basics. You have to master the movement before you increase the load. Heavy lift ka ashirwad, chhoti chhoti practice ki tapasya se milta hai (the blessing of a heavy lift comes from small, daily practice).
Scaling for Everyone
If a workout calls for a movement you can't do yet, we scale it. Whether you need to use a lighter band for pull-ups or reduce the weight on your clean and jerk, I ensure you get the same intensity and stimulus as the person next to you. This is how we build a strong community where everyone from absolute beginners to competitive Hyrox athletes can train under the same roof.
Rishabh Grover
I am Rishabh, and I live by the mantra of 'showing up'. My gym is raw, focused, and honest—there is no fancy AC, just 4500 sq. ft. of space to get real work done. If you are here to put in the effort and learn how to move properly, you will fit right in with the AFC squad.
