Shatkarma and Jalneti Detox Yoga Sessions
Cleanse your body and calm your mind with traditional Shatkarma techniques, taught with care in peaceful outdoor settings.
This video shows our Jalneti session during a beach retreat. You can see participants learning the technique and the unique, hand-painted Jalneti pots that I gift to everyone as a reminder to continue this powerful self-care practice at home.
About Shatkarma: The Yogic Detox
Learning a new technique like Jalneti can feel a bit daunting, but I’m right there with you to guide you through it safely. We start slow, focusing on your comfort, and you get to take home a hand-painted ceramic Neti pot so you can continue this simple, refreshing cleansing practice on your own.
Beyond the Mat
Shatkarma isn't just about poses; it’s the Hatha Yoga way of preparing the body to receive deeper energy. Think of it as a reset button for your nervous system. In our sessions, we focus primarily on Jalneti—the art of nasal cleansing—which is excellent for anyone dealing with allergies, sinus issues, or just that heavy, congested feeling that city life often gives us.
What Happens in a Session?
It’s not a medical procedure; it’s a mindful ritual. I hold these sessions outdoors, usually by a lake in Bangalore or the beach in Goa, because nature amplifies the healing effect. We take our time. There’s no rush, no pressure to get it right the first time. We start with basic Pranayama to steady the breath, move into the cleansing process, and then settle into a guided meditation. The goal is to clear out the channels, so you leave feeling lighter, both physically and mentally.
Why Practice This?
- Breathing: Proper nasal cleansing helps open up the airways, making your daily breathing and meditation practice much more effective.
- Clarity: When the breath is clear, the mind follows. Many students tell me they feel a sense of stillness they haven't felt in months.
- Self-Care: By using the hand-painted pot I provide, you take a piece of the retreat home. It’s a physical reminder to pause, breathe, and keep the detox going long after we’ve parted ways.
Whether you are joining me for a quick Sunday morning workshop or a full residential retreat, my aim is to make these ancient practices feel accessible and grounded in your real life.
