Strength & Conditioning to Build Your Fight Engine

byArt of DefenseArtofDefense Studio at Saket, New DelhiView full gallery

Striking power starts with your engine. We use functional drills and raw conditioning to build the explosive strength and stamina you need for the mat.

This is the grind behind the glory. Our members work through a circuit of handstand push-ups, pull-ups, and other functional fitness exercises to build the strength that powers every strike.

A strong core is critical for a fighter. Our young warrior Amrit demonstrates a core circuit, including Russian twists, V-ups, and leg raises, building foundational strength.

Landmine presses are an excellent tool for developing rotational power and core stability. This exercise directly translates to stronger hooks and crosses in your striking.

We take the grind outdoors. Here, our members work on agility drills, sprints, and shadow boxing in the park, building functional fitness in a different environment.

Conditioning is key. Our members use various tools like the rowing machine and jump ropes to build the cardiovascular engine required to last through tough rounds.

A snapshot of a typical conditioning workout: heavy bag work for power, battle ropes for endurance, and shadow boxing with dumbbells for muscular stamina.

A versatile conditioning circuit in action. This student moves from heavy bag kicks to mountain climbers and barbell thrusters, building full body strength and endurance.

About this collection

You won't find air conditioning or fancy machines here. We focus on battle ropes, tire flips, and kettlebell circuits because that’s what actually builds the engine you need for a fight. If you want to train for performance rather than just looks, this is where you start.

Building the Fighter’s Engine

In combat sports, your muscles are only as good as the gas in your tank. We don't train for vanity. Every movement, from explosive tire flips to high-rep kettlebell carries, is designed to translate into power on the mat. When you're in the third round and your opponent slows down, this conditioning is what keeps you moving.

The Setup

We operate out of a raw, non-AC environment in Saket. It gets hot, you will sweat, and the air gets heavy. We believe this mimics the reality of a fight better than a climate-controlled gym. We use simple, effective tools:

  • Functional Strength: Kettlebells, barbells, and pull-up bars to build durability.
  • Endurance: Battle ropes and rowers to keep your heart rate up.
  • Agility: Shadow boxing with weights and explosive plyometrics to improve footwork.

Is this for me?

Whether you are an absolute beginner looking to get into shape or an experienced striker needing to sharpen your cardio, you are welcome. We modify the intensity based on your current level. If you can handle the heat and are willing to put in the work, you belong on our mat.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do I need to be a fighter? No. Many of our members just want the conditioning level of a fighter without the combat component.
  • What should I bring? Just your training clothes, water, and the will to work hard. We provide all the equipment.
  • Can I combine this with other classes? Yes. Our strength sessions are often integrated into our MMA and Muay Thai cycles to ensure you stay injury-free and powerful throughout your training.
