The Artist's Process: From Sketch to Sculpture
Art is a journey, not just an end result. Here is a behind-the-scenes look at how I turn abstract ideas into tactile, sculptural stories using upcycled materials.
Every story starts with a line. This is where the piece 'Enchanted Abyss' was born, with quiet intention on paper, slowly building the form with ink and watercolor.
From a pencil sketch to a textured sample. This video shows the transition from a 2D idea to a 3D form, testing the sculptural possibilities of the design before creating the final, large-scale piece.
The magic of making a miniature sample. This isn't just a test run; it's a small piece of art that helps me perfect the textures and colors for a larger commissioned work.
About The Artist's Process: From Soul to Sculpture
Before I commit to a large-scale project, I always create a 12x12 inch physical sample. It is the most vital part of our collaboration because it allows you to see, touch, and feel the relief depth and finish, ensuring the final piece perfectly captures your vision.
My process is rarely about just putting paint on a canvas. It is built on layering, testing, and refining. Whether I am working on a bespoke commission for a corporate office or a piece for a private home, the work always begins with a discovery session. We map your story, your brand, or your personal emotion to an artistic concept.
Once we have a direction, I start experimenting with the raw materials. I specialize in textured, mixed-media work, utilizing upcycled paper pulp, WPC wood backings, and resin. This requires careful material management to ensure the structural integrity of the piece. The sampling phase is where the magic happens. I develop these smaller versions so we can adjust the relief depth, color palette, and light interaction before I dedicate four to six weeks of studio production time to the final masterpiece.
For my live art performances, the process changes entirely. The focus shifts to energy and interaction. I manage the materials and setup, but the performance is about bringing guests into the fold, explaining the upcycled techniques, and finishing a 4x4 ft piece right in front of them. Whether it is a studio commission or a live event in Mumbai, the goal remains the same: art that you can feel, created with intention.
