About Art Across Borders: Qatar Exhibition
Notice the relief depth in the large nautilus and floral forms in these images. Everything here is handcrafted from upcycled paper pulp and mixed media, which I build in layers to create that tactile, heavy-texture finish. It is not just about what you see on the wall, but the way the light catches the metallic leaf and sculptural curves when you move around the space.
Bringing my work to an international exhibition in Qatar was a journey of seeing how my storytelling transcends language. Whether it is a large-scale nautilus sculpture or abstract floral forms, the goal is always to create pieces that invite touch and observation.
My sculptural process relies on upcycled materials, primarily transforming waste paper into a durable, textured pulp. I manipulate this medium to create heavy-relief surfaces that catch light differently throughout the day. For the pieces showcased in Qatar, I focused on geometric balance and natural forms, integrating gold and silver leaf to add warmth and depth to the rougher textured base.
Many clients worry about weight or durability with large installations. Because I use a WPC wood backing and reinforced structural layering, these statement pieces are sturdy enough for corporate lobbies or private homes without being overly heavy. If you look closely at the event photos, you can see how the interplay of smooth metallic finishes against the raw, matte pulp creates a tension that defines my current series. This is not static art. It is meant to be part of a living space.
