About My Creative Process
People often see the finished, polished result on a gallery wall, but the real work happens in the messy middle. Whether I am soaking palette knives overnight to remove dried texture paste or spending hours sketching a mandala, my studio is where the unpredictable magic happens. It is never just about applying paint, it is about understanding how materials like sand and modeling paste react on the canvas.
How My Art Comes to Life
I believe art should feel like a story. Because I work primarily with mixed media, there is no cookie-cutter approach to how I build a piece. Every commission is a collaboration, and I want you to see the effort that goes into making sure your artwork feels right for your specific space.
The Techniques Behind the Texture
- Layering for Depth: I use heavy modeling pastes and palette knives to create relief. This isn't flat art. It is tactile and designed to change as the light in your room shifts throughout the day.
- Pyrography: For the wood pieces, I use heat-station burning. It is a slow, meditative process. Unlike painting, you cannot 'erase' a burn, which means every line requires total focus.
- Custom Tooling: Sometimes the right tool doesn't exist. I frequently adapt syringes, markers, and custom droppers to get those fluid, abstract lines that a standard brush just cannot achieve.
Why the Process Matters
My studio in Mumbai is where these ideas are tested. If you are ordering a large-scale piece, I do not just jump onto the big canvas. We analyze your wall color and natural light, and I create physical A4 swatches for you to hold up against your wall. This ensures we are on the same page before I commit to 100+ hours of labor on your final piece. Art is a conversation between the maker and the collector, and I invite you to see exactly how that dialogue unfolds.
