About Inside the Gurukul: Our Practice & Community
Every session at my studio starts the same way, not with a playlist, but with a simple, grounded prayer. It is not just about getting the steps right, it is about creating a space where my students, from tiny tots to adults, learn the discipline of the Guru-Shishya Parampara while keeping the atmosphere supportive. You will see this reflected in how we balance rigorous technique drills with moments of genuine joy during our practice sessions.
Rooted in Tradition
My studio in Noida Sector 82 is not just a dance space, it is a Gurukul. We follow the Guru-Shishya Parampara, which means the learning extends far beyond the studio floor. Whether we are practicing Araimandi, the fundamental half-sit posture, or refining footwork for an Arangetram, the focus remains on the sadhana, the dedicated practice.
Beyond the Steps
What you see here are glimpses of our daily life. You might catch us mid-session, focusing on Abhinaya, which is the art of expression, or perhaps organizing a semi-classical workshop to keep things fresh.
- Discipline meets community: We take technique seriously, but I believe dance should be joyful. You will find students working hard on intricate rhythm cycles and then breaking out into laughter during a quick break-time chat.
- A home for every learner: My students are not just here to learn a few moves for a performance. We have children learning their first steps and adult learners rediscovering their passion. We celebrate every small win together, whether it is a child perfecting their first adavu or a student preparing for their stage debut.
This is the heartbeat of Nritya Gurukul. It is messy, it is rigorous, it is spiritual, and it is entirely ours.
