Kalangan Parivaar: Join Our Warm Dance Community
At Kalangan, dance isn't just a curriculum—it is a shared life. We are a parivaar where festivals, traditions, and the joy of movement bring us all closer together.
A full view of our studio during the Vijayadashmi Guru Pooja. Students, parents, and friends gather to seek blessings and start a new lesson, filling the space with warmth and positive energy.
The sacred Guru Pooja, an auspicious occasion where we pay homage to our gurus and the art form. My husband Chandru performs the rituals before the idol of Lord Nataraja, the cosmic dancer.
On Vijayadashmi, we always honor the source of our learning. A portrait of my Amma and Guru, Smt. Jamuna Krishnan, garlanded and revered, as we seek her blessings to continue our journey in dance.
The sound of a Meera Bhajan filling our studio during Vijayadashmi celebrations. Music and devotion are intertwined in our practice, creating a truly spiritual atmosphere.
Celebrating Mother's Day with my students, many of whom are mothers themselves, returning to dance. It is a joy to see women of all ages pursuing their passion and supporting one another in our Kalangan family.
Celebrating the first day of Navaratri at home, surrounded by the traditional Golu display of dolls. This festival is a special time for us, filled with music, dance, and devotion to the Goddess.
About Our Kalangan Parivaar: A Family of Dancers
When you step into Kalangan, you are not just signing up for a class, but entering a supportive home. We welcome everyone from young children to adults returning to dance, creating a space where we celebrate festivals together and treat every session as a meaningful gathering rather than a simple drill.
Our classes go beyond footwork and rhythm. Because I follow the Guru-Shishya parampara, the bond between teacher and student is the foundation of everything we do. Whether we are celebrating Vijayadashmi, performing Guru Pooja, or setting up the Golu bommais during Navratri, these moments are as central to our learning as the dance itself.
We provide a nurturing environment, particularly for adult learners who may be nervous about restarting their journey. My studio in Dwarka is equipped with sprung wooden flooring specifically chosen to protect your joints, ensuring that your passion for dance does not come at the cost of your physical well-being.
When you join us, you are gaining access to rare compositions passed down by my mother, Guru Smt. Jamuna Krishnan. You will learn the historical context of the pieces, the philosophy of the music, and the emotive storytelling of abhinaya. This is a space to pause, breathe, and immerse yourself in the rich culture of Bharatanatyam while being part of a community that truly cares for one another.
Ragini Chandershekar
I am Ragini Chandrashekhar. Kalangan is the home where I share the heartbeat of Bharatanatyam, handed down from my Amma. Here, we do not just count steps; we celebrate life, culture, and our shared journey as a dance family.
