About Meet the Guru: Akshatha Pai
Learning Bharatanatyam is a commitment of both the body and the mind. At Nritya Gurukul in Sector 82, I focus on the traditional Guru-Shishya Parampara, ensuring that every student understands the discipline and devotion behind the movement. Whether you are a beginner looking for your first steps or an experienced dancer preparing for an Arangetram, we build a foundation that is as technical as it is joyful.
My journey with dance began at age six, and after a long break for family and career, returning to the stage felt like finally coming home. I established Nritya Gurukul to create that same feeling of belonging for my students. We treat every class as a sacred space, starting with prayer and focusing on the nuances of 'Abhinaya' (expression) and footwork clarity.
I believe in teaching students of all ages. Whether you are a child just beginning your training or an adult seeking a spiritual connection through dance, my approach is tailored to your current skill level. We balance rigour—such as practicing the perfect 'Araimandi' (posture)—with a sense of fun and 'masti' that keeps the community alive.
Beyond regular classes, I specialize in preparing students for their Arangetram, the significant solo debut that marks a dancer's coming of age. This involves intensive training in the 'Margam' (repertoire) and coordinating the live orchestra, guiding you through every step of the preparation. We also explore semi-classical routines and fusion choreography for those who want to blend classical techniques with modern music for competitions or festivals. If you are looking for a classical dance teacher in Noida who values tradition while making the learning process accessible and encouraging, I would love to welcome you to our Gurukul.
