Mythological Dance & Devotional Choreography
I bring ancient legends to life through the grace of Bharatanatyam. Whether for a festival or a cultural program, I create devotional narratives that honor our traditions with authenticity.

About this collection
When we choreograph mythological pieces like Shiv-Parvati or Navadurga, the most important element is Abhinaya. It is not just about the steps; it is about how the dancer holds their posture and uses their eyes to convey the deity's power. I spend extra time with my students focusing on these subtle facial expressions to ensure the character feels authentic, not just like a costume on stage.
Mythological dance is close to my heart because it allows us to connect with our cultural roots. Whether you need a powerful Shiv Tandav for a festival or a grace-filled Radha-Krishna piece, the focus at Nritya Gurukul remains on the story.
The Art of Abhinaya
In mythological storytelling, movement is secondary to emotion. We train extensively in the nine Rasas, ensuring that when you or your child steps onto the stage, the audience sees the character, not just the dancer.
Tailored for the Occasion
These pieces are often performed during Navaratri, Ramleela, or community cultural programs. I adapt the complexity based on the event. For beginners, we keep the choreography rhythmic and engaging, while for seasoned dancers, we lean into complex footwork and traditional poses.
Costume and Character
Mythological dance requires specific styling. While I am not a costume designer, I guide you on how to drape the sarees and style the accessories to ensure the look matches the deity being portrayed.
Serving Noida and Delhi NCR
Whether you are looking for a solo performance for an annual function or a group act for a society event, I travel across Delhi NCR to help you prepare. If you are ready to bring a piece of our history to the stage, let's connect and discuss the narrative you want to portray.
Nritya Gurukul
I am Akshatha Pai, and I founded Nritya Gurukul to keep our traditions alive. When I choreograph these mythological stories, I treat it as a devotional act, guiding my students to find the character within themselves. Seeing them perform these timeless legends is my greatest joy.
