Real yoga isn't learned from a distance. At Aikia Yogashala, we prioritize hands-on guidance to ensure your alignment is safe, your understanding is deep, and your practice is authentic.

Our gurus are always present on the mat, offering verbal cues and physical adjustments. Here, a teacher guides students through a standing balance sequence, ensuring stability and correct form.

A gentle but firm adjustment in Parivrtta Trikonasana helps the student find a deeper, safer twist. This personalized attention is a cornerstone of our teaching methodology.

Using a strap in Dhanurasana (Bow Pose), a teacher assists a student to open her shoulders and deepen the backbend safely, demonstrating the effective use of props in practice.

Here, a teacher helps a student use the wall and a strap to achieve a deeper expression of Dhanurasana, showcasing how we adapt poses for individual needs and progressive learning.

A theory session with a guru. Mentorship extends beyond physical practice to include philosophical discussions, where students can ask questions and deepen their understanding of yoga.

A teacher provides a hands-on assist in Dhanurasana, helping the student lift higher and open the chest more fully while ensuring the lower back is protected.

This video shows what real yoga guidance looks like. A guru assists a student in a wall-supported handstand, providing the safety and confidence needed to explore challenging inversions.

About this collection

In our shala, you won't get lost in a crowd. When we work on complex postures like backbends or inversions, our gurus are right there on the mat with you. Whether it is using a strap to safely open your shoulders or spotting you in a handstand against the wall, we provide the physical adjustments you need to understand the anatomy, not just memorize the shape.

Why Mentorship Matters in Yoga

Many teacher training courses treat students like customers in a lecture hall. We do not. Yoga is a science of the body and the spirit, and it requires tactile, eyes-on correction to learn safely. When you join our 300-hour certification at our HSR Layout studio, you are entering into a Guru-Shishya Parampara—a lineage-based relationship where your growth is our responsibility.

Practical Anatomy and Safety

You cannot learn how to adjust a student’s spine by watching a video. You have to feel where the resistance is, understand the leverage, and know when to push and when to stop. In our mentorship sessions, we cover:

  • Safe Adjustments: How to assist students with different body types and limitations.
  • Prop Usage: Using blocks, straps, and walls to bridge the gap between where a student is and where they want to go.
  • Contraindications: Learning when a pose should be avoided entirely to prevent injury.

The Philosophy of Guidance

Beyond the physical, our mentorship focuses on the 'how' of teaching. How do you hold space when a student struggles? How do you correct a posture without discouraging the practitioner? We bridge the gap between ancient texts like the Bhagavad Gita and modern challenges like digital fatigue and lack of focus. If you are looking for a quick certificate, there are many places to find one. If you are looking for the discipline, the lineage, and the hard work required to become a true guide, you are in the right place.
