About Yoga for Athletes
Athletes often assume yoga is just about flexibility, but my sessions focus on functional mobility and spinal alignment. When we work together, I look at your biomechanics, not just your pose. Whether you need to fix a tight hip or recover from a strain, I use my background as a sports therapist to provide adjustments that protect your joints while pushing your performance.
Yoga is a powerful performance tool if you approach it with the right mechanics. My sessions go beyond basic stretching to address the specific needs of athletes. We focus on active recovery to manage muscle tension, and we work on joint mobility to prevent common injuries like ligament strains or chronic lower back pain.
Because I work as a sports physio, I bring a clinical eye to every class. I do not just ask you to hold a pose. I correct your alignment to ensure your tendons and muscles are engaging safely. If you are struggling with a specific issue like a recurring shoulder niggle or stiff hamstrings, I adapt our flow to target those areas directly.
My approach combines three distinct phases:
- Assessment: We identify your current range of motion and any areas holding tension or pain.
- Alignment: I provide cues and hands-on adjustments to correct your posture, ensuring you get the most out of every movement without risk.
- Integration: We move into pranayama and breathwork, which is crucial for managing lactic acid buildup and staying calm during high-pressure matches.
I have worked with athletes from the kabaddi mat to the cricket pitch. I understand the difference between good pain from a workout and bad pain from an injury. If you are ready to build a body that lasts, let us get to work.
