Yoga Philosophy and Deeper Mindful Practice
Yoga is far more than just physical postures. Explore the deeper roots of mindful living and mental clarity to build a sustainable practice.
The Bhagavad Gita teaches us, "Samatvam Yoga Uchyete," which means yoga is equanimity. This profound concept guides my practice and teaching. It is about maintaining a balanced state of mind through life's ups and downs, in both success and failure.
While yoga is a universal practice, your personal journey on the mat is unique to you. Each asana and pranayama has different effects on different bodies. The most important thing is to listen to your body and practice mindfully.
On Teacher's Day, it is important to clarify the role of a yoga teacher. While yoga supports overall well-being, it is not a substitute for medical treatment. I am here to guide your practice, but I always encourage consulting a doctor for any health conditions.
Yoga has brought so much more than just physical flexibility into my life. This practice has boosted my energy levels, increased my strength, improved my focus, and given me a deeper sense of purpose and inner peace. These are the true gains of yoga.
About Yoga Philosophy & Deeper Practice
In my sessions, we don't just move through asanas; we integrate Sukshma Vyayama (joint loosening) and Pranayama to align breath with movement. Whether we are discussing concepts from the Bhagavad Gita or practicing Yoga Nidra for stress relief, the focus is always on your personal capacity. We use props like blocks or books to assist with alignment, never to force a pose, because your 'shareer' (body) is the best teacher.
Beyond the Physical Asana
Many students come to the mat looking for flexibility or strength, but the true benefits of yoga often lie in the consistency of the practice and the mindset you bring to it. My classes in Bengaluru and online are designed to bridge the gap between physical exercise and mental discipline.
What You Can Expect
We blend traditional Hatha and Ashtanga styles with modern mindfulness techniques. My approach covers:
- Intentional Movement: We start every session with Sankalpa (intention setting) to ground your focus.
- Breathwork (Pranayama): Essential for calming the nervous system and managing stress in daily life.
- Yoga Nidra: Guided deep relaxation sessions that help clear mental chatter.
- Philosophical Integration: I draw from the Patanjali Yoga Sutras and the Bhagavad Gita to explain how 'Samatvam' (equanimity) helps us navigate daily challenges like work pressure or personal setbacks.
A Safe Space for Your Journey
I believe in non-judgmental practice. There is no one-size-fits-all in my classes. If you are a beginner, we focus on building a foundation without pushing your limits. If you have specific health concerns, please know that I act as a guide to support your well-being, but this practice is not a substitute for medical advice. Always check with your doctor first. My role is to help you listen to your body, modify when necessary, and ensure your practice remains safe, consistent, and deeply personal.
