Apoorva's Yoga Journey: Behind the Mat in Bengaluru
Welcome to the real side of my practice—where falls, breakthroughs, and the occasional 'Aiyo' happen. This is my story, in motion.
Stuck in a pose? True strength starts in the mind. Before attempting a challenging asana, I always take a moment to close my eyes and visualize myself doing it. This mental practice is just as important as the physical one.
Trying out a slightly more advanced flow. It's important to challenge yourself and see what your body is capable of, one breath at a time.
Here's a breakdown of a funky arm balance. I love exploring these challenging poses that require a mix of strength, flexibility, and focus.
A fun arm balance pose! This is the kind of playful challenge I enjoy in my own practice. The journey to get here is full of learning.
A still shot of this fun arm balance. Want to know how I did it? It's all about breaking it down into smaller steps.
Working towards Hanumanasana (Front Splits). This video shows five drills I use to prepare my body for the full pose. Consistency is everything.
Breaking down how to achieve side splits. It's a journey of patience and consistent practice, opening the hips and hamstrings over time.
Floating Extended Lizard Pose is a beautiful expression of strength and flexibility. Here are the drills I practiced to build up to it.
Want to learn the Dragonfly pose? These simple drills will help you build the necessary strength and hip mobility to take flight in this arm balance.
A strong headstand starts with a solid foundation. Before inverting, I focus on strengthening my neck, shoulders, and core. Safety always comes first.
About My Practice, My Story
You might see me floating in an arm balance, but what you do not see is the five minutes I spent breathing and visualizing that shape before I even lifted a foot. True strength starts in the mind, not the muscles, and that is the specific, intentional foundation I teach in every one of my sessions.
True yoga is not about nailing the pose you see on Instagram. It is the messy, unglamorous work you do on the mat every single day. Whether I am working on Hanumanasana or trying to stabilize a shaky headstand, I approach it with the same curiosity I hope you bring to your own practice here in Bengaluru.
My approach is simple: I break down complex asanas into small, doable drills. You can see that in this gallery. We do not just jump into inversions; we build the foundational strength, work on mobility, and—most importantly—learn to breathe through the challenge. Yoga is about moving with awareness and having the guts to try again when you fall.
Whether you are struggling with tight hips from a desk job, looking to manage chronic back pain, or simply want to feel more at home in your own body, the focus remains the same. It is never about looking perfect; it is always about feeling capable. If you are in Bengaluru and want to move with intention, come join one of my workshops. Let us practice, laugh at our mistakes, and get stronger together.
