Aerial Yoga and Sound Healing Highlights
I used to shy away from strength training until I found the hammock. This is my space to fly, play, and heal. Whether you're here for deep stretching or a floating sound bath, come discover your own balance in the air.
The hammock is a beautiful partner for exploring flexibility. Here, I am in Hanumanasana, or the splits, using the fabric to deepen the stretch and find a feeling of weightless grace.
This is what it feels like to fly. This pose requires core engagement and shoulder stability, building strength in a way that feels more like soaring and less like a workout.
Going upside down is one of the most freeing parts of aerial yoga. This inverted split uses gravity to help release tension in the hips and lengthen the spine, all while being safely supported by the hammock.
My classes focus on flowing between shapes. This short sequence shows a transition that builds upper body strength and coordination, moving with the rhythm of the breath.
For ultimate relaxation, I offer Floating Sound Bath sessions. You will be gently cocooned in the hammock as the healing vibrations of Tibetan singing bowls wash over you, melting away stress.
Aerial yoga isn't just about complex poses. Even simple seated positions in the hammock can help build core awareness and provide a moment of calm and focus during your practice.
The hammock provides support to explore poses that challenge both strength and flexibility. This standing split variation helps improve balance and mobility in a controlled way.
About Featured
Aerial yoga isn't just about acrobatics; the hammock is actually the most accessible way to build upper body and core strength. By using the fabric to support your weight, you can safely explore deep inversions and backbends that might feel out of reach on a traditional yoga mat. My sessions focus on gradual progression, ensuring you feel stable and confident before we try anything advanced.
While the photos show the 'flying' aspect of my practice, the real work happens in the quiet, steady moments of conditioning. My classes at the Sanpada and Seawoods studios are designed to meet you where you are, regardless of your current strength level. We use low-stretch nylon tricot hammocks capable of supporting over 900kg, paired with high-density foam mats, so safety is always built into the equipment itself.
Why the Hammock?
Many students come to me thinking they need to be strong before they start. It is actually the opposite. The fabric acts as a partner that holds you, allowing you to move through transitions with grace instead of strain. We focus on grip strength, core activation, and spinal decompression—releasing the tension that builds up from sitting at a desk all day.
Beyond the Pose
My practice isn't strictly about complex inversions. I integrate Hatha Yoga principles to ensure we are building a foundation of mobility, not just doing tricks. For those days when you need to switch off, my Floating Sound Bath sessions allow you to be cocooned in the hammock while I use Tibetan singing bowls to create a meditative environment.
Whether you join a small group batch (capped at 10 students for personal attention) or book a private 1-on-1 aerial therapy session, you will find that the hammock makes the journey into self-discovery feel much lighter. If you have been avoiding certain yoga poses because they feel too physically demanding, I invite you to try them with the support of the air.
