Aerial Yoga Practice and Daily Movement
A glimpse into my daily aerial practice in Navi Mumbai, where we move past basic yoga into the air, using hammocks to explore strength, stillness, and everything in between.
A playful inversion during practice. I am always working on new class schedules and timings to make aerial yoga accessible to more people.
This journey requires dedication and sacrifice, but reaching your goal is worth it. This pose is a moment of rest and surrender within the practice.
Creating different shapes in the air is a form of self-expression. The hammock becomes a canvas, and our bodies create the art.
Another moment of creating shapes in the air. This pose, cradled in the hammock, is a beautiful combination of a backbend and a gentle twist.
About Additional Work
Aerial yoga is less about the acrobatic tricks you see in these photos and more about building the foundation to reach them safely. In my sessions, we use low-stretch nylon tricot hammocks to support your body weight while working on grip strength and core activation. Whether you are a beginner or returning to the mat, I design these routines to help you find your balance without the intimidation of a traditional gym.
It is a common misconception that you need to be a gymnast to start aerial yoga. Most people who walk into my studio in Sanpada or Seawoods tell me they aren't strong enough. The truth is that the hammock does much of the work by providing the stability you need to hang safely, allowing you to focus on the alignment of the pose. We start with basic inversions, like the Inverted Butterfly, to get you comfortable with being upside down, and we focus heavily on the conditioning that makes those movements possible.
My approach blends Hatha yoga principles with aerial techniques. We do not just train for strength; we train for awareness. This means a heavy focus on shoulder stability, breath control, and the transition between shapes—the flow between poses is often where the real work happens. For those interested in the therapeutic side of the practice, we integrate elements of Yog Nidra and floating savasana into every cool-down to help you release tension.
This is a space where you can explore what your body is truly capable of, not just what it looks like. If you are looking to build lasting strength and mobility, we can discuss which batch fits your schedule, whether you are visiting the studio for a single drop-in or looking for a monthly commitment to deepen your practice.
