Defy gravity and find a new way to move. My aerial yoga classes use hammocks to make inversions and deep stretches accessible, helping you build core strength and flexibility at your own pace.

Get ready to defy gravity with my aerial tricks. This video shows a drop from a seated position in the hammock into a supported headstand on the floor.

Stretching on the aerial hammock. Using the fabric allows you to deepen your stretches, like this split and backbend, by providing support and taking pressure off the joints.

Strengthening the upper body on the aerial hammock. This sequence involves pulling up from the floor into a suspended L-sit, which is a great workout for the arms and core.

About Aerial Yoga: Defy Gravity

The hammock acts as a stabilizer, providing the support you need to hold difficult poses longer. It helps you focus on muscle engagement and alignment while the fabric takes the pressure off your joints, making it easier to safely explore inversions without the usual strain on your wrists or shoulders.

Aerial yoga flips your perspective, literally. By using the fabric hammock as a prop, we take the pressure off your joints while challenging your core stability. Whether you are a total beginner or an experienced yogi, this practice helps you decompress your spine and build upper body strength that translates directly to your regular mat practice.

In my Goregaon studio, I focus on a structured approach to aerial work. We start with conditioning your grip and core using the hammocks, moving slowly toward inversions and flips only when you feel ready. There is no rush here. If you are struggling with a specific move, we use height adjustments and physical spotting to ensure you remain safe.

Many of my students come to me worried that they lack the upper body strength for aerial work, but that is exactly why we do this. The hammock provides the assistance you need to perform movements that would be impossible otherwise. We also incorporate partner aerial work, which is great for building trust and adding a layer of playfulness to the session.

I also teach private sessions where we can focus entirely on your specific goals, such as mastering a deep backbend or overcoming a fear of inversions. If you are in Mumbai and want to try something that feels as much like play as it does like a workout, come join a class.
