Unexpected Moments in Cubbon Park Yoga
Practicing under the canopy of green, where the city fades into the background and the unexpected becomes our soundtrack.
One enchanting Sunday morning, our practice was accompanied by the magical sound of a sitar player who was hosted nearby. It felt like the park itself was providing the music for our flow.
A kind word shared by one of our participants. There truly is something magical about practicing yoga under a canopy of green on a crisp Sunday morning.
About this collection
You won't find studio mirrors here. When we practice in Cubbon Park, you deal with uneven grass and the occasional wandering dog. It is a trade-off. You lose the clinical precision of a studio but gain the messy, beautiful reality of moving your body under an open sky.
My teaching is rooted in Hatha and Vinyasa flow, but the environment dictates the rest. Practicing outdoors in Cubbon Park means embracing variables that a studio never offers. One Sunday, a sitar player was practicing in the vicinity, and our entire Shavasana was set to their live melody. Another day, the humidity might force us to slow down, or the laughter of a group nearby might pull us out of deep focus.
This is not a space for rigid perfection. We work with what the morning gives us. The ground is rarely flat, which challenges your balance in ways a mat on a hardwood floor cannot. But this is where the magic happens. Marete hogidde—I had almost forgotten how important it is to just be present, regardless of whether the conditions are ideal.
After the session, we don't rush to leave. We sit on the grass, share stories, and sometimes enjoy simple refreshments like ragi cake or majjige. This post-practice time is where the actual community forms. If you are looking for a sterile, temperature-controlled environment, this is not it. But if you want to connect with your breath, move your body, and occasionally share a laugh with a stranger under the trees, you will fit right in.

I am Rakshith. My sessions are not about perfecting a pose, but about finding a rhythm that fits the morning. We let the outdoors in, embrace the noise of the park, and see where the breath takes us.
