Hatha Vinyasa Yoga in Cubbon Park
Step away from the studio walls and find your rhythm under the trees. Every Sunday, we move, breathe, and reset together in the heart of the city.
The sun filtering through the trees is our studio ceiling. Here, we find our space on the grass, ready to begin our weekly ritual of outdoor yoga in the heart of Bangalore.
A glimpse into our class flow, from gentle warm ups and standing poses like Tree Pose to final relaxation. You can see how we move together as a group, breathing with the rhythm of the park.
As an instructor, I find joy in observing and guiding the practice. Here, I'm watching the group move into Vrikshasana, or Tree Pose, each person finding their own balance.
Students exploring variations of poses like Upavistha Konasana. My classes encourage you to listen to your body and find the expression of the pose that works for you on any given day.
This sequence shows a partner flow, moving from gentle stretches to Downward Dog and core work. Practicing side by side creates a shared energy that is truly special.
The final, most important pose: Savasana. Here, the group rests collectively, absorbing the benefits of the practice under the vast canopy of Cubbon Park's trees.
A moment of release in a reclined twist. We focus on poses that help unwind tension from the week, allowing for deep relaxation and connection to the breath.
From the quiet roads of a Sunday morning in Cubbon Park to the shared stillness of our practice, this is the journey we take together. The silhouettes show our focus and collective calm.
This time lapse captures the dynamic energy of our group flow, moving through seated poses, inversions like headstand, and back to a meditative seat. It's a full spectrum practice.
Another look at our Hatha Vinyasa sequence in the park. You can see the progression from grounding poses to more challenging asanas like headstand, all within a supportive group setting.
About The Practice: Hatha Vinyasa in the Park
We practice on uneven, natural ground, so remember to bring a sturdy mat for your own stability. Because we are in the open park, there are no private changing rooms or showers available, so please come prepared to flow and stay back afterward for a casual chat or some shared snacks.
Our Sunday sessions are less about holding the perfect pose and more about finding a connection with your body and the environment. We typically start with a warm-up, moving into a Hatha Vinyasa flow that builds heat and energy, before settling into grounding postures and breathwork. The environment in Cubbon Park changes every week—sometimes it is the sound of birds, other times the distant hum of the city, and occasionally a bit of live acoustic music nearby.
What to Expect
- The Flow: I adapt the sequence based on the group's mood. We might push through challenging asanas or keep it slow and restorative, depending on what the day calls for.
- The Community: This is a space for everyone. Whether you are a beginner or have been practicing for years, the goal is to feel welcome.
- Post-Practice: The session officially ends with relaxation, but the morning usually continues with informal conversations on the grass. It is the best time to connect with fellow practitioners.
Practical Details
- Location: We meet in the open-air areas of Cubbon Park, usually near the High Court or the Bamboo grove.
- Timing: Sunday mornings, allowing for a fresh start to your week.
- Requirements: Bring your own yoga mat, a water bottle, and an open mind. We handle the rest.
