Music is meant to be felt, not just heard. I bring the traditional warmth of an intimate baithak to your home or event, complete with stories, chai, and live tabla rhythm.

This video captures the complete atmosphere of our Courtyard Baithak series. From the hot chai being served to the audience recording the performance, it's all part of the intimate and communal experience we create.

The stage is set for a Courtyard Baithak. The floor seating, the marigold flowers, and the waiting tabla create a sense of anticipation for the intimate musical evening ahead.

A cup of chai is an essential part of the baithak experience. It adds to the warmth and informal atmosphere, making everyone feel welcome and relaxed before the music begins.

A view of the audience at The Courtyard, completely absorbed in the music under the evening lights. This is the connection I strive for in every performance.

The audience is as much a part of the performance as the artists. Here, you can see listeners capturing the moment, fully engaged in a thumri and dadra recital.

Another view of the stage before a concert begins. This perspective shows the preparation and care that goes into creating the perfect baithak environment for both artists and listeners.

About The Baithak Experience

When we plan a baithak at your home, it is not just about me playing the tabla. It is about setting a mood where conversation happens. I bring my instrument tuned to the specific acoustics of your room, and I take time between compositions to explain the tala or the story behind a raga, so everyone from seasoned music lovers to first-time listeners feels truly involved.

A baithak is different from a concert. In an auditorium, the artist is distant, but in your living room or garden, we are sharing a moment together. My approach is to keep the setup simple and acoustic. I carry my professional tabla sets, and I ensure the tuning is perfect for the space, whether it is a small drawing room or an open courtyard.

The structure is simple: we start with a slow conversation through rhythm, and as the mood builds, we explore traditional compositions. I am happy to perform solo or bring along a fellow artist if you prefer a jugalbandi (duet).

Practically, this means we need a quiet space where the nuances of the tabla can be heard without loud amplification. If you are hosting a gathering of 10 or 50 people, the goal remains the same: intimate connection. I am based in Bengaluru and travel locally for these private events. Please do not hesitate to ask questions about the rhythmic cycles or the style during the session. It is your space and your event, so let us make it a shared experience of music rather than just a performance.

I have spent 29 years with the tabla, learning that the best music happens when the audience sits just a few feet away. I am not here for a flashy stage show, but to share a conversation through rhythm.
