About this collection
For a house concert or private baithak, I usually perform with a tabla accompanist. We need a simple raised platform (min 8x6 ft) with a white mattress and sheet for floor seating. This traditional floor-level setup allows the sound to resonate clearly and creates that classic, cozy atmosphere where you and your guests can truly connect with the raags without the barrier of a formal stage.
The beauty of a baithak lies in the proximity. Whether you are hosting a small gathering at home, a Sangeet Seva during a festival, or a refined corporate event, I love tailoring the performance to fit the vibe of your space.
I treat each setting differently. If we are in a quiet residence, we focus on the meditative, deep aspects of classical raags. If it is a lively private party, I can weave in light classical or sitar covers of popular songs that your guests will recognize and enjoy. I have performed in everything from prestigious venues like Soho House to the intimate living rooms of patrons, and in every case, my goal is the same: to make the music feel personal.
Technically, I am flexible but particular about audio quality. Even in smaller settings, I ensure the acoustics are managed so the sitar's delicate nuances are not lost. If you are planning a grander evening, I can bring in my brother, Chirag Katti, for a Sitar Jugalbandi (duet), which adds a layer of competitive, high-energy musical dialogue that always captivates an audience. Whatever the setting, I am here to share my music in a way that feels honest, warm, and memorable for everyone present.
