About Additional Work

When I play, it is not about just keeping time. Whether it is a packed auditorium or a small room, the magic happens in the silent moments—the nod between me and the sarangi player, or the way the rhythm shifts when the singer takes a breath. These photos show that connection, the long rehearsals, and the joy of sharing a stage with friends who feel like family.

For me, the tabla is a conversation. While you might see me on stage during a formal concert, a large part of my work happens behind the scenes. It is in the 90-minute rehearsals to get the monitor mixes just right, or the quiet moments in the studio where we iterate to find the perfect bass resonance for a track.

I believe in the tradition of the baithak, which is why I often organize these gatherings at venues like The Courtyard in Bengaluru. It allows for a level of intimacy that concert halls cannot replicate. You will see photos here of my collaborations with artists like Ustad Rafique Khan Saheb and Shri Sanam Khan. These are not just professional arrangements; they are shared journeys.

Whether I am providing support for a vocal ghazal performance, playing a classical jugalbandi, or working on a studio recording, my goal remains the same: to listen, respond, and ensure the music breathes. If you are looking for an accompanist who values the chemistry between artists as much as the technical precision of the taal, let us talk.

I am Trilochan, and for me, the tabla is a conversation. I spend my time balancing big concerts with intimate musical gatherings, always looking for that genuine spark between me, the other artists, and the audience.
