We spent years messing with chemistry to perfect our own line of Cone 6 glazes. From unpredictable reactive blues to smooth mattes, these are the colors we actually use in our studio.

This is "Midnight Blue," one of our most popular Trana glazes. It’s a deep, rich blue that often breaks into beautiful reds, browns, and blacks after firing, making every piece unique.

A look at our range of smooth matte glazes. These glazes give a beautiful, even finish and come in a variety of modern, earthy colors. The stamped 'Trana' test tiles are ready for the kiln.

We’re finally sharing our secrets. After years of experimenting with glaze chemistry, we launched a Glaze Development masterclass for fellow potters who want to learn how to create their own colors.

A peek into our glaze room, where all the color magic happens. This wall is covered in test tiles from our students and our own experiments. It’s a rainbow of possibilities.

More shots of our "Midnight Blue" glaze on cone-shaped test pieces. You can see how the color varies depending on the thickness of the application, creating a dynamic surface.

About Our 'Trana' Glazes for Clay Nerds

Our 'Midnight Blue' is the real showstopper here, breaking into deep reds and browns during firing so no two pots ever look exactly the same. We formulate these as Cone 6 oxidation glazes, so they are stable enough for food-safe functional ware but reactive enough to keep things interesting.
