Our Studio Kiln: The Heart of Our Pottery Craft
This is Ember, my Bartlett Genesis 2.0 kiln. It is where I turn fragile student clay creations and custom pieces into durable, food-safe stoneware right here in my Whitefield studio.
A clear look at my new kiln, Ember, ready for action. This modern equipment is essential for my kiln firing services, allowing me to fire everything from delicate pottery to sturdy tableware with complete confidence in the results.
The day my new kiln arrived was so exciting. It was a big investment in my studio and a commitment to providing the best quality firing for my students and fellow potters. Here you can see it being carefully unloaded.
Here is Ember, fully installed in the studio against our brick wall. Its stainless steel body and advanced digital controller, The Genesis 2.0, represent the professional core of my pottery services.
A close-up of the kiln's control panel. This is where I program the specific firing schedules for either a bisque or a glaze firing, controlling the rate of heating and cooling to prevent cracks and ensure perfect results.
For me, the kiln is more than just a machine. I held a small puja to welcome Ember into our studio, as it plays such a sacred role in turning soft clay into something permanent and beautiful. This is where the final transformation happens.
About Our Studio Kiln: The Heart of Our Craft
Firing is where your clay gets its final strength and becomes functional. My kiln, Ember, is a Bartlett Genesis 2.0 that handles everything from bisque firing at 1000°C to high-temperature glaze firings at 1220°C. If you are an indie potter in Bengaluru or a student needing a reliable space to get your work fired, reach out to me to check my current kiln schedule.
The Kiln Process: I see the kiln as the heartbeat of the studio. It is where raw, delicate greenware becomes sturdy, usable ceramic. The process is never instant, and I always prioritize safety for every piece that enters Ember.
- Bisque Firing: I fire greenware to 1000°C to harden it, making it ready for glazing without the risk of breakage.
- Glaze Firing: After applying your glaze, I take it to 1220°C, which creates that beautiful, food-safe finish perfect for mugs, bowls, or tea sets.
Using my kiln in Whitefield: Ember offers precise digital control over ramp and hold times, which is vital for consistent results. Whether you have a bulk order of 20 to 30 mugs or just a few special pieces, I can help you maximize kiln space. I offer both per-kiln rentals for urgent, private cycles and per-kg rates for smaller batches. I held a small puja when I installed Ember because I truly believe in the soul of the work we do here. My goal is to ensure every piece comes out strong, and I never rush the cooling process, which is essential to prevent thermal shock. Pottery is a slow journey, and I appreciate the patience you bring to it. Please get in touch to discuss your stoneware or earthenware needs.
