About Jiu-Jitsu: The Ground Game
We run these sessions as a community, not a rigid academy. You will be working on ground control and escapes on our high-density tatami mats, which are perfect for safe barefoot training. Whether you are aiming for self-defense or just want to try something that makes your brain work as hard as your body, you can drop in for a single session to see how it feels before committing to a pass.
Often called human chess, Jiu-Jitsu is the ultimate test of control, timing, and using your opponent's momentum to your advantage. Unlike striking arts, we focus here on grappling, using technique to secure a position or a submission. Our classes are led by coach Natasha, who focuses on keeping things technical and accessible for absolute beginners. We keep the vibe informal, supportive, and ego-free.
What to expect at our Ashok Nagar studio:
- The Vibe: No silent, intimidating gym atmosphere. You will find loud music, high energy, and people who are there to help you learn.
- The Setup: Our industrial garage gym features high-density puzzle mats or tatami flooring, designed specifically for barefoot movement and safe takedowns. Note that we are a non-AC facility, so expect to get sweaty fast.
- The Training: Sessions are 90 minutes. We start with a dynamic warm-up, move into technical drills where we break down specific positions, and finish with conditioning.
- For Beginners: You do not need to be fit or know anything about combat sports to start. Everyone here was a beginner once, and we prioritize learning the fundamentals of escapes and positioning before anything else.
If you are looking for self-defense skills or just a fun way to get stronger, come hang out. We encourage you to bring your own water bottle and get ready to roll.
