From fundamental sweeps to complex submissions, we teach the leverage and strategy that make BJJ the thinking person's martial art.

This is a tutorial on the fundamentals of the Rear Naked Choke, one of the most effective submissions in BJJ. I explain the seatbelt grip, hand positioning, and how to apply pressure correctly for a successful finish.

Here, I demonstrate the John Wayne sweep from half guard, a great option to reverse a bad position. This technique uses a knee lever to off-balance an opponent who has an underhook, allowing you to recover or get on top.

When your opponent tries to backstep out of your half guard, you can use this sweep to reverse the position. This video shows how to use lapel grips and hooks in the Gi to elevate and sweep your opponent.

This is a demonstration of a fundamental sweep from the deep half guard position. By using your opponent's weight against them and rocking your legs, you can create the momentum needed to get on top and transition to a pass.

Getting to the deep half guard is a key skill. In this instructional, I show how to enter the position when your opponent sprawls to defend your initial half guard entry, using their momentum to get underneath them.

BJJ is a game of action and reaction. This video shows a half guard sequence where an initial sweep attempt is defended, leading to a back-take opportunity by coming out the back door.

This clip demonstrates a full sequence from the Coyote Guard. I show how to execute a sweep and transition directly into a knee bar submission, highlighting the importance of leg positioning to control your opponent.

Here is a detailed breakdown of how to finish a triangle choke from the running man escape position. I cover the final adjustments needed to tighten the choke, such as controlling the posture and cutting the angle.

The running man escape is a dynamic way to get out of side control. This video shows how to turn away, create space, and trap your opponent's arm to set up a reverse triangle, turning a defensive position into an attack.

This is a demonstration of the D'arce choke, a powerful submission set up from the ghost side control escape. I explain how to secure the grip around the neck and arm, and how to use your body weight to finish the choke.

About Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) Techniques

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu isn't about being the strongest person on the mat; it is about efficiency. In our sessions, we focus on high-percentage mechanics—like the Rear Naked Choke or the John Wayne sweep—that allow smaller practitioners to control larger opponents. You won't just learn moves; you will learn the mechanics behind every grip and transition, which is what actually makes your BJJ stick.
