Discover the bold, fiery flavours of the Northeast. From our signature Raja Marcha chutney to traditional Manipuri Singju, these starters bring a piece of our motherland to your table.

This is Eromba, a traditional Manipuri chutney. It's made by mashing boiled vegetables with fermented fish (ngari) and a generous amount of king chilli. It's pungent, spicy, and incredibly flavourful.

A spicy and refreshing Manipuri salad called Singju. It's made with shredded cabbage, herbs, and other vegetables, mixed with roasted lentil powder and lots of chilli.

Our famous King Chilli Chutney, also known as Bhut Jolokia chutney. It's extremely spicy and adds a powerful kick to any meal. A must-try for spice lovers.

A popular and savoury starter, our Liver and Gizzard Deep Fry. The pieces are marinated in spices and fried until crisp, served with a side of fresh salad.

A quick look at some of our authentic dishes, including a fiery red chutney, a simple chicken boil, and smoked meat wrapped in banana leaves for flavour.

About Spicy Starters & Chutneys

We don't take shortcuts with our starters. Whether it is our King Chilli chutney or the Manipuri Eromba, we source ingredients like Ngari and Raja Marcha directly because the flavour simply isn't the same without them. When you order these, you are getting a recipe from our home, prepared with the same care we give every meal.

Our menu is built on flavours that define our childhoods in Assam, Nagaland, and Manipur. These starters are not just appetisers; they are an introduction to the diversity of Northeast Indian cuisine.

The Ingredients That Define Our Taste

  • Raja Marcha (Bhut Jolokia): We use this legendary King Chilli to create chutneys that pack a real punch. It is not just about the heat; it is about the complex, fruity aroma that comes only from the genuine variety.
  • Ngari (Fermented Fish): Essential for that signature pungent depth in Manipuri dishes like Eromba. It is an acquired taste for many, but for us, it is the soul of the dish.
  • Axone: Used in our dry preparations, this fermented soybean adds a savory, earthy character that balances the freshness of our herbs and chillies.

Traditional Delicacies

  • Eromba: A classic Manipuri mash of boiled vegetables, fermented fish, and fresh chillies. It is humble, rustic, and incredibly flavourful.
  • Singju: A refreshing yet spicy salad that highlights the contrast between crunchy raw vegetables and the intensity of roasted lentil powder and spices.
  • Liver and Gizzard Fry: A crowd favourite for those who enjoy a sharper, crunchier texture. We marinate these in simple spices, letting the natural taste of the meat shine through without heavy masalas.

We prepare everything fresh. Because we don't use pre-made mixes or stock, please allow us 15-20 minutes to get the balance of spices and textures just right for you.
