Meet Kamakshi and Vishala: The Heart of The Sound Space
We aren't just teachers; we are two sisters on a mission to make music a source of connection and healing for everyone in Mumbai. Come get to know the team behind your musical journey.
Here I, Kamakshi, share our vision for The Naad Collective. We wanted to build a music club where everyone can share their talent and encourage each other in a beautiful musical environment.
Here I, Vishala, talk about my excitement for The Naad Collective. It's about meeting like-minded people, discussing music, singing together, and even going to concerts as a group.
Why did we start The Sound Space? In this video, I, Vishala, explain how music has helped me evolve and why we wanted to help others find a friendship in a form of art.
A quick message from both of us as we kick off a new term. We are always excited to share our refurbished curriculum and new songs with our students.
In this feature for Her Circle Bizruptors, we talk about our journey. We grew up in a musical family and wanted to give the gift of music to people from all walks of life.

About Meet Us: Kamakshi & Vishala
We started The Sound Space because we believe music is a friendship, not a competition. Whether you are looking for parent-toddler jams or a place to reconnect with your voice as an adult, we move away from the pressure of perfection to focus on what music actually unlocks in you. We want to help you find your sur (note) in a space that feels like home.
Our Story
We grew up in a musical family, but our journey to The Sound Space really began when we realized how much music contributed to our own growth and well-being. Music wasn't just performance to us; it was a way to navigate life. We wanted to strip away the intimidating barriers of traditional music classes and offer something different: a place where you can learn, share, and just be.
The Philosophy: Tech is the Bridge, The Mentor is the Heartbeat
We truly believe that while technology helps us learn, the connection between student and mentor is where the real magic happens. We build our curriculum to be practical and accessible. You won't find rigid, cold classrooms here. Instead, you'll find:
- Inclusive Environments: From our Naad Collective hangouts at Kathiwada City House in Worli to our vocal classes in Tardeo, we focus on creating a community.
- Wellness-First Approach: Our programs, including our Hindustani classical courses, incorporate Pranayam and breathing to ensure you leave feeling better than when you arrived.
- Accessible Outreach: Through our 'Sound Space on Wheels' initiative, we take instruments and teaching to underserved communities in Mumbai, because we believe every child deserves that musical friendship.
Why Learn With Us?
Whether you are a bathroom singer who just wants to find their groove or someone looking to dive deep into raags and taal, we have a spot for you. We don't judge your background. We simply invite you to join our village and grow, one note at a time.
The Sound Space
We are Kamakshi and Vishala. Two sisters, partners, and believers in the power of music to connect us all. We don't just teach techniques; we create a space for you to express yourself, no matter your experience.
