Music is meant to be shared, not just performed. Hear from our members about finding their voice, their tribe, and their rhythm at The Sound Space.

Meet Nidhi, one of the first members of The Naad Collective. Here she shares a beautiful song and invites you to join our community of like-minded music lovers.

Siddhi, another one of our talented students and Naad Collective members, shares her excitement for our music club and encourages everyone to book their tickets for an amazing evening.

Listen to Shweta, a member of The Naad Collective, give a sneak peek of the music we prepare for our gatherings. Her invitation is a testament to the welcoming nature of our group.

"Very supportive, very down to earth." We are so touched by this review from Trisha, who joined our adult classes after seeing how much her daughter enjoyed them.

We were honored to have singer Neeraj Shridhar attend our fundraiser. Listen to what he had to say about the importance of creating a space like ours for music.

About Voices from Our Community

What makes our community truly special is that we prioritize the learner over the performer. When you step into a Naad Collective session at Kathiwada City House, you are not stepping onto a stage to be judged. Instead, you are walking into a living room setup with floor cushions and live tabla and harmonium accompaniment, where you can explore ragas and compositions alongside people who are just as eager to learn as you are. It is a space where your sur matters more than your technical perfection.

Why Join Our Community

We started The Sound Space because we believe music is a journey best taken with friends. Whether you are a bathroom singer looking for a cultural breather or a beginner wanting to understand the basics of Hindustani classical music, our community is built on support rather than competition.

The Naad Collective: A Different Kind of Music Club

Think of the Naad Collective as a book club for Indian music. There is no spotlight and no pressure. We gather for two hours of guided listening, where we deconstruct popular Bollywood compositions or traditional bandish (compositions) to understand the raag behind the melody. It is about building a connection with the sound, having a conversation with fellow music lovers, and enjoying live professional accompaniment in an intimate setting.

Shadaja: Learning Together

For those who want to dive deeper into the technicalities, our Shadaja program offers a structured yet relaxed approach to Hindustani classical music. We focus on breathing, vocal health, and the fundamentals of swara and taal. We do this in small groups across various Mumbai locations, including Peddar Road and Todi Mills, because we find that vocal harmony is easier to grasp—and much more fun—when you are surrounded by a community.

What Members Say

Our members often tell us that they came for the music and stayed for the camaraderie. From students who joined after seeing their children flourish in our workshops to working professionals who need a weekly break from the city's chaos, our doors are open. We are honored to host such a diverse group of people, all united by a simple love for sound.

We are Kamakshi and Vishala. We started The Sound Space because we believe music shouldn't be about competition or high-pressure training. It’s about building a space where you can be yourself, find your sur, and connect with a community that feels like home.
